Description

Traditional porcelain Irish St. Brigid's Cross plaque to protect and bless your Home.

Born the daughter of an Irish Chieftain circa 453 AD Saint Brigid became a nun whose desire was to relieve the misery and hardship of the poor. Her feast day is the 1st of February on the day of her death.

The tradition is believed to have begun while St. Brigid visited a pagan chieftain. To illustrate the significant's of the Christian faith she quickly wove a simple cross from the rushes strewn on the floor. Commonly hung over the doorway in many Irish homes it is believed to bless and bring luck to every person who crosses the threshold.

St Brigid’s Blessing

May Brigid bless the house wherein you dwell
Bless every fireside every wall and door
Bless every heart that beats beneath its roof
Bless every hand that toils to bring it joy
Bless every foot that walks its portals through
May Brigid bless the house that shelters you.
